As churches across the country begin preparing for Remembrance Sunday services, please see below links to a range of video resources:
The Methodist Forces Board (MFB) has produced a series of video clips (3-5 mins long) featuring Armed Forces Chaplains speaking on themes which enable Christians to bring Remembrance together with their faith.
The Soldiers’ and Aviators’ Scripture Readers Association (SASRA) has recorded a 4 minute video including the Last Post, silence and Reveille.
The Church of England has produced a short ‘Prayer for Remembrance’ (1 minute) which includes a Royal Navy Chaplain and civilian readers.
We would urge any Christians involved in workplace Remembrance events to be wise as to how evangelistic these events should be. Within the Army, we now provide a two-stage ceremony including:
-
A secular act of Remembrance (e.g. Wartime accounts, Last Post, silence and Reveille, Kohima Epitaph)
-
A religious (normally Christian) service of Remembrance
-
There is an opportunity after the act of Remembrance for people to leave if they don’t wish to be involved in the religious ceremony that follows immediately afterwards.
