A Word from Steve Matthews, Trustee Director
"How tragic!" "A fruitful life cut short". "Why would this happen to someone so passionate about living for her Lord?"
These have been some of my reactions following the death a month ago of our very good friend, aged 51, after a short illness.
Emma's funeral this week was an amazing testimony to the vibrant life she lived, and to her Lord and Saviour.
Though it is difficult for me to accept Emma is no longer with us, I realise that her work for God on earth is done. To paraphrase 2 Timothy 4:7, Emma has fought the good fight, she has finished the race, and she has remained faithful.
About 5 years ago Emma recorded the story of how God led her to start a Christian group in the school she taught in, inspired by a presentation at our church from Ros, our CEO. See Emma's video here.
We thank God for using Emma and pray the seeds sown during her life will continue to bear much fruit.
At our Local Authority networking meeting in July, we were immensely encouraged by hearing stories from groups at different Councils including Natasha from Devon and Louise from Winchester. Another Louise, a senior manager from North Northamptonshire Council, reflected on what a support the group had been to her during her time working there.
May God continue to do his work in and through us even though we often don't understand exactly what he's doing or what time he has given us to do it. Let us give ourselves again to following God's prompting and stepping out in faith for him as we aim to shine where he has placed us.
